I am thrilled to share with you photos taken of the Union for Contempory Art in the last year. The Union, the brainchild of Brigitte Mcqueen-Shew, has leapt into the limelight with a new home at 24th and Lake Streets. The space is an adaptive reuse renovation of the historic Blue Lion building large enough to greatly expand The Union’s impressive programming for children and adults. The design, by Nancy Novak of Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, is a skillful and imaginative reworking of a collection of disjointed spaces into a master work of form and function. I am grateful to call both of these powerhouse women friends.
